Frontline Commando is the modern version of a previously reviewed app in the series, Frontline Commando: D-Day. It is a free game, but perhaps too much swayed towards the freemium model. As we all know, this is a large bother to not just me, but iOS app users all over the world.
Frontline Commando is a third-person shooter with pretty solid graphics, a large selection of weapons (most of which cannot be afforded merely with the in-game currency), and little variation between levels. Because there is essentially no story to go along with the game, it seems like every time you play, it’s the same thing. There are a few different types of levels including: Elimination, where you kill all the enemies that try to reciprocate, Survival, where you kill all the enemies under a time limit, and Rescue, where you need to kill all the enemies without harming civilians. If this game was revamped (taken out of the freemium model and given a better story) it would be absolutely awesome. But there’s probably a reason that you’ve heard of other apps before “Frontline Commando.” Unfortunately, most of this app’s potential is and will remain, just that. 6/10.
